Brown Bear - May 2007 My friend and I dreamt of going to Russia for many years but before receiving the call from Huntika staff we couldn’t make our dream come true. We are experienced hunters and we’ve been to many places on earth except Russia. We know that Kamchatka bears are the biggest in Russia, but Caucasian bears are more fierce and exciting to hunt. We came in Stavropol in late spring to hunt the bear which came out of hibernation before time. These bears are bigger and more aggressive. On the next day of our arrival we made for the mountains. In late spring the weather is not warm but landscapes are worth seeing. Huntika’s camp is a cosy place with wooden houses and a minimum of conveniences. This is a hunt for a real man! Early in the morning we woke up and went into the mountains. Our guide, Sergey is very professional and willing to help. My friend and I followed him in search of a bear. Bear hunting is very dangerous because these animals are very smart and thinking. One should be on the alert every time. The first day didn’t bring a trophy. The second day of hunting was more successful because we came across the signs of bear. The footprints were enormous and the bear should be very big. I thanked God because my friend was just a non-hunting observant, so we didn’t have to argue whose trophy it is gonna be. The third day we finally spotted him. Massive body and occasional roars pictured him as the beast of Caucasus. I was afraid to miss the shot, but Sergey reassured me and explained how I should shoot. The first bullet hit the bear but of course didn’t kill him. The next two hit the place near the shoulder and the back so it feel down. I was very happy. Thanks to Huntika staff I had no problems when transporting my trophy to the US. When going to Russia, choose Huntika and you won’t be disappointed. |
